Mensa membership is based on one primary qualification: exceptional performance on an accepted intelligence test.

Membership in Mensa is open to individuals who achieve a qualifying score within the upper 2% of the general population on an approved intelligence test.
This means achieving performance at or above the 98th percentile.
There are no additional eligibility requirements based on education, profession, social background, race, religion, or other personal characteristics.
There are generally two ways to demonstrate eligibility:
Participate in a qualifying test administered under Mensa’s approved testing procedures.
Provide qualifying evidence from an approved intelligence test that meets Mensa’s requirements.
Different intelligence tests have different standards and scoring systems.
Mensa accepts qualifying results from approved and properly administered intelligence tests.
The Mensa Laws also state that online tests cannot be used for Mensa admission.
